Award to Satter-lights

Millie Vogel

The Satter-Lights have just been presented with an award by the Association of Massachusetts Homes and Services for Aging. This award is for the 1997 Program Innovation of the Year. It was presented to us because our computer program is creative and meaningful to the elder population. There are eight mentors who assist tenants in the building to learn the workings of this new tool. For most of the tenants, this was an entirely new experience. They were apprehensive and uncertain about computers. Incidentally the core of eight mentors is responsible for the Satter-Light page you are now reading. Now, they are into E-mail, internet, and more importantly in publishing a six page and a four page newsletter, all on the computer, with graphics as well. The most remarkable aspect of this new science is that we are now able to understand what our children and grandchildren are talking about. We are into the 21st century with them!
